THE BACKSTORY
More than 20 years ago, in her role as a Senior Package Designer, Jackie created and shaped the visual identity for what would become one of the most recognized brands in textured hair care: Cantu. From the brand’s earliest days, she worked to develop the look and feel that would carry it from startup to shelf staple—creating a visual system that was bold, accessible, and built to stand out in a crowded category.
In 2015, Cantu was acquired by PDC Brands. While ownership changed, the brand’s visual DNA, and our connection to it, remained. Nearly a decade later, McGrath + McKenna reconnected with Cantu’s team and returned as a creative partner supporting the brand.
SUPPORTING THE BRAND TODAY
Today, Mc+Mc supports Cantu as an ongoing design partner, working closely with the brand team at PDC Brands to bring creative to life across a wide range of touchpoints. From digital assets and advertising to point-of-sale displays and packaging, our role is to help the brand stay fresh, relevant, and impactful while honoring the visual foundation that helped shape its success.

Designing Cantu at its beginning, and supporting it again today, offers a rare perspective. It’s a reminder that strong brand foundations endure, and that thoughtful design can continue to evolve long after the first package hits the shelf.
